Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre (NUYDC) stands on a strong foundation of values, leadership, and purpose. These policy statements reflect the Centre’s long-term commitment to empowering young people, strengthening vocational skills development, and contributing to Uganda’s broader socio-economic transformation.


Vision

An inclusive and responsive Centre of excellence in youth development.

This vision reflects the Centre’s aspiration to remain a leading institution in skilling, empowering, and supporting youth across Northern Uganda and beyond.


Mission

To empower and guide the youth with skills and information for self-sustainability and national development.

NUYDC focuses on equipping learners with practical competencies, confidence, and the knowledge needed to become active contributors to Uganda’s growth.


Strategic Objectives

  1. Deliver relevant and market-driven training programs that produce competent craft technicians demanded by today’s workforce.

  2. Strengthen institutional management and resource mobilization to ensure sustainable growth, competitiveness, and resilience.

  3. Integrate appropriate technological innovations into training programs to align with evolving industry standards.

  4. Promote strong partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance effective and efficient training for all learners.

Institutional Structure

Board of Governors

NUYDC has a functional Board of Governors appointed by the Ministry of Education and Sports. The Board provides oversight and strategic guidance and reports directly to the Minister of Education and Sports.


The Centre Staff

The Centre employs 53 staff members:

  • 28 teaching staff

  • 25 non-teaching staff

The Principal serves as the head of the institution and oversees all operations. The Principal reports to both the Board of Governors and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Department of TVET Operations and Management.

This structured leadership ensures strong governance, transparency, and effective service delivery to all learners.
